Add two more categories: one for things that went against your plans and desires, and another for anything unexpected that has occurred so far. It’s easy to identify what you liked and what you didn’t. Pay attention to events where you actively participated and those where you were in a passive role, either as a witness or an object where things happened to you (positive, neutral, or negative) without your deliberate involvement.

Be clear with your opinions, as now is the time for a rapport with yourself, your higher self, the universe, source, or your spirit guides. Were there lessons? Were there repeating patterns? What have you learned? What confused you? This has been, and still is, a messy year. Everyone needs closure in one way or another. This year, and specifically this time and the following months, is for closures on both personal and collective levels.

Clearly declare what you allow and what you don’t. What you appreciate, want, or like has a place in your life; anything that doesn’t suit you does not. There will always be people and situations that challenge your boundaries—it’s hard to avoid—but you can choose not to participate, engage, or entertain them, and deliberately remove yourself from such situations or people.

You may realize that you’ve allowed certain unwanted things. Learn from this. Be brutally honest with yourself and unbiased, not to blame yourself but to grow from the experience. Adopting a bird’s-eye perspective is crucial in such situations.

After this exercise, accept and claim everything that has served you well. Acknowledge it, recognize it, express appreciation and gratitude, and nurture it further. Cut cords with all events, people, places, spaces, and habits that haven’t served your highest good. If something was energy-draining, reclaim your energy first, then cut the cords.
